Shoutout to my old climbing rope for hitting 500 days of service
I finally retired my trusty Sterling rope today after it logged 500 working days on the job. That thing went up oaks, pines, and maples all over Nashville without a single major fray. I honestly didn't think it'd last half that long when I bought it three years ago. Has anyone else had a rope or piece of gear that just refused to quit?

Honestly I think the key is just rinsing it after every climb and keeping it off the ground as much as you can. @hill.hugo I never really washed mine with soap or anything, just a good hose down with fresh water if it got muddy or sap on it. I also stored it loose in a cotton bag in my garage which I think helped it breathe and not trap moisture. The Sterling ropes seem to hold up really well even if you beat on them a bit, but I bet my habit of flipping the ends every couple months kept the wear even.

500 working days is crazy impressive" is an understatement man. Did you do anything special to maintain it like washing it regularly or keeping it off dirty ground? I'm curious if the rope just naturally held up that well or if you put in some real effort to get that kind of lifespan out of it.
