That old pottery shard near the creek took me 3 seasons to figure out
I was digging near a little creek behind my property back in 2022 and found this weird piece of pottery with a blue glaze. I kept it in my garage for over a year, thinking it was just some old farm junk from the 1800s. Finally got around to showing it to a guy at the local historical society last spring, and he said it was likely from a Spanish mission settlement from the 1600s. Took me almost 2 years to get a real answer on something I found in an afternoon. Has anyone else had a random find that sat around forever before you learned what it really was?

Oh totally, I had an old coin in a drawer for like 4 years before someone told me it was from a Civil War camp.
