My sourdough starter was a sluggish mess until I switched its feeding water

I started using bottled spring water instead of tap, and after about 4 days it doubled in size way faster. Anyone else find their local water is the secret problem?

Honestly, I've had the exact opposite experience... my tap water starter is a beast. I tried switching to filtered water once and it totally slowed down. Our city water is pretty heavily chlorinated too, which is supposed to be bad, but my starter just doesn't seem to care. Maybe some strains just get used to what you give them.

Guess your starter just likes a little chlorine in its diet.
