inMy hen started laying eggs in my kid's old toy dump truck
Sounds like you're just rewarding bad chicken behavior.

inQuestion about the actual pressure rating on some older ASME plates
Old codes are old for a reason. That higher stress rating was a mistake they fixed. Inspectors should just use the current book.

inUpdate: That week I had three jobs fall through in a row
Springfield's an hour drive each way, right? That's a lot of gas. But three jobs in one week feels like more than bad luck. Maybe your planning needs a deposit system. I lost a day's work once when someone canceled, so now I take half up front for materials. It stops the worst of the bleeding. You can't control their loan or their friend, but you can control your own rules.

inA pilot asked me why we call it 'snap ring pliers' and my brain short circuited
Yeah, the "safety red flag" thing is spot on. I used to let pilots chill nearby, thinking it was fine if they were just watching. But one guy kept asking questions right as I was torquing a critical bolt, and I almost messed it up. Now I kick everyone out, no exceptions. It's just not worth the distraction.

inQuestion about that 'paint roller trick' for smoothing LVP seams
Hot take: Roller beats mallet every time. Saw a crew doing the mallet and block thing on a big box store job last year. They were there forever, tapping each seam like they were trying to wake it up gently. The roller method just seems like the grown-up version of that. You get even pressure across the whole plank instead of just little spots. It's faster and you're less likely to mess up the locking system by hitting it wrong. For glue-down stuff especially, it just makes sense to press everything down flat.
