My $40 cake turntable turned my frosting into a disaster zone

I thought a spinning stand would help me ice my son's birthday cake smoothly, but when I turned it on, the whole thing wobbled and sent a wave of blue buttercream flying across my counter. I spent more time cleaning the kitchen than I did on the actual cake. Has anyone found a turntable that doesn't act like a carnival ride?

Ugh, that sounds so frustrating! I've had the same thing happen with a wobbly stand before.

Skip the cheap plastic ones. Get a heavy metal turntable, they don't shake.
