inI just hit 300 nights in my old two-person tent
Cheap stuff can outlast the fancy gear sometimes.

inHeard a doc say we should leave some sites buried for the next generation
Ever notice how this is just like saving money? Spend too much now and you're broke later, save too much and you miss out on stuff you need.

inJust realized most guys are over-torquing their oil cooler gaskets on the 6.7 Powerstroke
Over-torquing" is putting it nicely, it's more like they're using the ugga dugga gun and calling it a day. I saw a guy at the shop treat every bolt like it was a lug nut, and then wonder why his driveway looked like an Exxon spill. Julia_burns9 is right about sticking with the OEM ones, the aftermarket ones I tried just turned into crunchy paste. I mean, it's a gasket, not the suspension on a monster truck.

inQuestion about a comment on toolpath order
Heard that logic before, but I've never seen it help on our old Haas. If the machine has any backlash, finishing conventional can actually make the finish worse because it loads the screw differently. I stick with climb for both rough and finish passes to keep the tool pressure consistent. What parts are you running that made you try it?

inRemember when we had to eyeball the load chart on the cab wall?
That faded plastic chart on the 888 we ran felt like a rite of passage. You learned to trust your gut after a while, estimating the wind by how the tagline was whipping. The new digital charts are dead accurate and safer, no doubt. But there was something about that process that made you feel connected to the machine. Now it's just pulling a number off a screen. Feels like a piece of the craft is gone.
