A client's comment in my chair last Tuesday really got me thinking

He said, 'Man, I've been to three shops this month and nobody checked my hairline before the fade.' He was right, I just assumed the last guy did it. Now I physically run my fingers over it before I even pick up the clippers. How do you guys handle checking the previous cut?

Isn't that just adding extra steps? If the client didn't like their last cut, they'd tell you.

Wait, you really think people always speak up? Half the time they just leave and never come back. You're assuming everyone feels comfortable giving direct feedback, @hayes.tara, but that's not how it works. Asking them directly shows you actually care about getting it right. It turns a maybe unhappy client into someone who feels heard. Why leave that to chance when one simple question fixes it?
