Customer in my chair quoted his old barber saying 'a fade is just a conversation with the head,' and it stuck with me
He was talking about his guy in Phoenix who passed away, and I keep thinking about how much of this job is really reading what a person wants before they even say it, so I'm curious if you all ask questions first or just start cutting and watch their face in the mirror.

My buddy cuts at a spot where this old guy always brings a photo of himself from the 90s and just taps it, no words at all. My friend learned to just look at the pic and go, because asking too many questions made the guy tense up. Guess it depends on the person, some want to talk it out and some just want you to read the room.
