My clipper cord gave out mid-fade on a busy Saturday

Right as I was starting the blend on a skin fade, the cord on my Wahl Senior just went dead. It was 2 PM last Saturday and my next appointment was already in the chair. I grabbed my cordless Magic Clips as a backup to finish the cut, but the balance felt totally off. Has anyone found a good, heavy-duty replacement cord for Seniors that doesn't feel cheap?

Check the connection at the clipper itself. In my experience, the internal solder joint can fail before the cord goes bad. You might just need to open it up and re-solder the wire.

Yeah that line about the internal solder joint failing first is so true. I always blamed the cord and would replace the whole thing. Had an old set that kept cutting out, opened it up on a whim and sure enough one wire was just hanging off the board. A quick solder fix and it's been solid for years now. Totally changed how I deal with broken tools now.

Man I gotta push back on this one. @sean_hunt61 makes it sound like a simple fix but most people don't own a soldering iron or know how to use one safely. Opening up a clipper can be a real pain with tiny screws and weird plastic clips you might break. Honestly, for the average person, buying a new cord is way less hassle and you know it'll work right away. I've messed up more things trying to fix them than I've ever saved.
