Pro tip: A shop vac and a spray bottle changed my fade game

I always struggled with stray hairs sticking to the back of a client's neck after a fade. No matter how much I brushed or used a neck duster, there were always a few hairs left behind. This week I tried something simple, I sprayed the neck area with a little water from a spray bottle first, then used the shop vac on low suction to pull the hair away. It worked way better than I thought, the moisture weighed down the loose hairs so the vacuum could grab them all at once. I did this on four clients yesterday and not one of them left with hair stuck to their collar. Has anyone else used water and suction together like this, or do you have a better trick for keeping the neck clean?

Whoa, I gotta say I see this totally different. That spray bottle step seems like it would just make a mess on the clippers or the floor. I just use a regular hair dryer on cool setting after the cut to blast all those stray hairs off the neck. Takes two seconds and doesn't leave any moisture on the skin that could feel weird for the client. Plus a shop vac is loud and bulky, especially if you're working in a small space. Seems like overcomplicating something that's already pretty simple.

Totally agree with Robin here. I tried the spray bottle thing once and it just left little wet patches on my neck that felt sticky all day. Hair dryer on cool is the way to go, I do the same thing now and it takes like ten seconds. Also the shop vac thing is overkill, who wants to drag that thing out for a few stray hairs? Keep it simple.
