Tried truing a wheel with zip ties as spoke holders...
Was fixing a buddy's wheel in my garage in Portland last Tuesday and realized I left my truing stand at a co-op. Used zip ties on the fork as makeshift calipers and it actually worked for getting the wobbles out... Has anyone else made weird field repairs like this?
Flip that around and ask yourself why you wouldn't just buy a proper stand. Zip ties on a fork might get the wheel sorta straight but they won't catch subtle hops or dish issues. You're basically eyeballing it and hoping for the best which is fine for a trailside bodge but not for a real repair.
