My wife called 'The Bear' a stressful chore to watch and I finally agreed
We were on episode 5 of season 2, the Christmas flashback. She just said 'This feels like work, not fun.' Hit me different. I realized I was only watching to keep up with the hype, not because I enjoyed it. Anyone else feel pressured to finish a show everyone loves?

Man, I feel that. I forced myself through three seasons of that show about the chess guy just so I could understand the memes. I didn't even like chess. I was just sitting there waiting to feel smart, but mostly I was just bored and waiting for it to be over. Felt like doing homework for a class I didn't sign up for.

See, that's where I totally disagree with you @ruby561. I watched that whole show and actually got into it. At first I was just watching for the story, but then I started picking up little things about chess without even trying. It's not about feeling smart, it's about seeing someone be really good at something. It's like watching a sport you don't play, you can still enjoy the skill. Forcing yourself through three seasons just for memes sounds like a you problem, not a show problem.

I dunno, I actually liked The Bear. Yeah it's stressful but that's kind of the point? It's supposed to feel like working in a real kitchen. I never felt like I had to finish it, I just wanted to see what happened next.
