Question about the time a cardinal declared war on my living room window for a solid week
I counted 47 distinct attacks over five days, each one followed by the bird staring me down from the bush like I'd personally offended its entire family, until my partner finally asked, 'Is that the same bird, or do we just have really bad feng shui?'

Oh man, this is so real. My neighbor's cat spent a whole summer trying to fight its reflection in my car's hubcap. Every single morning, like clockwork. It makes total sense what @finley_flores28 said, they're just doing their thing, but you start to feel like you're part of some weird animal soap opera. I finally had to start parking down the street just to give us both a break.

It's the weirdly personal nature of it that gets me. I had a squirrel that would only stash nuts in one specific pot on my balcony, like it had a lease. Nature seems to run on these tiny, furious vendettas against random objects.

Honestly that "furious vendetta" idea is a total human story we put on them. That cardinal probably just saw its own reflection and thought it was another bird in its space, same as @park.iris's squirrel just found a good spot. We're the ones making it personal, they're just doing their animal thing.
