Wasted $60 on that fancy book club discussion guide subscription last month
All 3 guides were basically just summaries and the same 5 generic questions I could've found for free on Reddit, has anyone actually gotten good discussion prompts from those paid services?

Oh man, that stings. I actually had a similar experience with a different paid discussion guide service and the problem was the questions felt like they were written by someone who skimmed the book in ten minutes. What I ended up doing was starting a small neighborhood book club where we each take turns writing three discussion questions based on a single chapter. That way you get real, specific thoughts from actual readers instead of generic prompts that could apply to any book ever written. Might be worth trying with a couple friends before spending money on another subscription.

Has anyone looked into whether those paid guides are actually written by the same people who make the free ones, just with a different cover? @victor_adams95 your idea sounds way better than what these services are pushing out.
