My aunt swore by rinsing canned beans to save money, I finally tried it
She told me last month that rinsing canned beans makes them stretch further in soups and tacos because you're not paying for all that salty liquid weight. I finally did it with a can of black beans for chili on Tuesday and I swear I got almost an extra half cup of beans out of it. Has anyone else done the math on how much rinsing actually saves over a year?

The can weighs the same whether you rinse or not so you're just getting less salty juice, not more beans.

Hold on, you're missing the REAL win here. It's not just about the beans, it's about how we all get tricked into paying for garbage we don't need. I started weighing my canned goods after a friend pointed out the same thing with olives and artichokes, and now I rinse EVERYTHING. It's crazy how much we just accept paying for salty water when we could spend that pocket change on actual ingredients. This is the same pattern I see with people buying pre-shredded cheese that's coated in wood pulp or those overpriced spice blends when you can just mix salt and pepper yourself. Once you start looking for these little money leaks, you see them EVERYWHERE.
