Dropped $300 on a CRM platform and it actually made things worse
I went with a popular CRM last quarter thinking it would fix our messy tracking system. Turns out it was way too complicated for our small team of 12 people. We spent three weeks just training everyone and still had errors every day. The automated follow-ups kept sending wrong info to clients. I finally switched back to a simple spreadsheet and a shared calendar. Has anyone else found that basic tools work better than fancy software for a small operation?

Every time I see this it reminds me of how restaurants push those fancy digital ordering tablets and then customers still end up just waving down a server anyway. Same pattern with almost anything tech related these days. Someone builds a complicated solution to a simple problem, and regular people get stuck in the middle trying to figure it out. The best tools are the ones that get out of your way and let you do the actual work. Your spreadsheet and calendar story is exactly what I see happening everywhere from coffee shops to car repair places. We keep buying fancy stuff that promises to fix everything but usually just creates more headaches.
