Stopped by a custom shop in Nashville last week and saw them using pocket screws on face-frame joinery... yikes.

Yeah, I used to be all about pocket screws for face frames too. But once I saw the racking issues on a cabinet door that was built that way a few years later, it totally changed my mind.

My first face frame with pocket screws wound up looking like a trapezoid after a year of the kids slamming drawers on it. I literally had to shim the whole thing to get the doors to close straight again. Now I just stick with dowels like a boring old timer and call it a day.
