Bought a cheap telescoping brush off Amazon and it broke after 3 jobs
Snapped right at the locking mechanism while I was on a roof in Portland last Tuesday, cost me $35 and a whole afternoon waiting for a replacement. Anyone else had luck with those budget kits or should I just stick to the name brand stuff?

Man that sucks big time, nothing worse than gear failing when you're already up on a roof dealing with the hassle. Cheap telescoping stuff almost always snaps at the twist lock part because the metal is too thin to handle real pressure. Had a similar thing happen with a painter's pole from a discount store and learned my lesson the hard way too.

Read a review from a gutter guy in Seattle who said the same thing. He tested three cheap poles and all snapped within a month. The metal on those budget ones is just too thin to hold up under real pressure. Even the plastic locking collars crack easy. Saves you a few bucks upfront but costs way more in time and hassle later. I'd skip the cheap stuff and go name brand for anything you use on a roof.
