The liner brush that finally beat 20 years of crusty buildup

Swapped my old steel wire brush for a poly one on a job last Tuesday in a house with a wood stove that hadn't been swept since 2004. The difference in how fast the creosote let go was night and day, plus it didn't gouge the stainless liner like the metal did. Anyone else made the switch or am I late to this party?

Just so you know, poly brushes still scratch stainless if you push too hard.

Honestly, the whole point of a poly brush is that it's softer than the steel. If you're pushing hard enough to scratch a sink with one, you're basically using a rock. People blame the brush when the real issue is they're scrubbing like they're trying to get paint off concrete. I've used the cheap green ones on my stainless for years with normal pressure and never seen a mark. Maybe your sink just has a cheap coating on it, that's not the brush's fault. And if you're really that worried, just use a sponge and stop overthinking it.
