Why I think community solar gardens beat rooftop panels for most people
I live in a neighborhood in Minneapolis with a lot of old trees. I looked into putting solar panels on my roof twice over the past 5 years, but the quotes kept coming back around $18,000 after tax credits. Then I joined a community solar garden that a local church set up about 3 miles away. My electric bill dropped by 15 percent from day one with zero upfront cost. Rooftop panels are great if your roof faces south and has full sun, but for folks like me with shade issues, community gardens just make more sense. Has anyone else tried a shared solar program in their city and seen similar savings?

That's a solid point, but how long did you have to wait to get into that program?

Heard the same thing from my buddy who joined a solar garden in St. Paul @xena_miller31, only waited 2 months to get in.
