A retired restaurant owner's comment about packaging made me rethink my setup
Last Friday, a guy named Pete who ran a diner in Akron for 30 years saw me bagging orders and said my containers were leaking grease into the paper bags. He showed me his old trick of double-walling with a foil liner and told me to test every new box with hot oil before buying bulk. I checked my last 20 orders and found 3 with soggy bottoms, so I switched to sturdier stock from a local supplier at $0.18 more per unit. Has anyone else had a random stranger spot a flaw in their workflow that you totally missed?
He tested every new box with hot oil before buying bulk? That's the kind of dedication I would never have thought of in a million years. I'm still stuck on the fact that a stranger just walked up and spotted that while you were bagging orders.
