Am I the only one who switched to compostable containers after a 2 star review about "soggy box smell"
I was dead set on cheap foam clamshells for my delivery-only wings spot because they run about 12 cents each versus 40 cents for the fiber ones. Then a customer in Portland left a 2 star review that just said "food was fine but the box smelled like a gas station and the bottom was mush by the time it got here." I swallowed my pride, tried the compostable fiber boxes for a month, and my average rating went from 4.1 to 4.6 because the food actually breathes instead of steaming itself. That 28 cent gap per order stings but the repeat orders more than cover it. Has anyone found a fiber container that holds up to really saucy stuff without leaking through?
Wondering what sauce situation you're actually dealing with because that changes everything. If it's like a heavy buffalo or a garlic parm that pools at the bottom, the fiber clamshells with the thin PLA lining still seem to sweat through after like 20 minutes in my experience. Are you talking about a full leak where it soaks the bag or just the box getting soft and sad on the bottom? Curious too if you've tried the ones with the corrugated bottom layer versus the flat pressed kind, because I've heard the corrugated ones handle wet food way better. What size are you running, the 8x8 or something bigger?
