The debate about coolant mist systems at my shop got heated last month
I was always skeptical of spending $800 on a mist collector, thinking shop towels and a fan would work fine, but after 3 months of respiratory crud I caved and bought one. Now the air is way cleaner but the maintenance guy says the filters are a pain and cost $50 a pop. Anyone else go back and forth on this or find a middle ground?

Oh man, the filters costing $50 a pop is exactly what got me. I put off getting a mist collector for a year because I thought I was being smart with just a box fan and some rags. Then I started waking up with that gross cough and my sinuses were always angry. I finally bought one too and yeah the air is way better now. But my filter guy gives me the same spiel about changing them every time. I started stretching it to every 5 months instead of the recommended 3 just to save some cash. Still beats feeling like crap every morning though.

You air really that much better after stretching the filters @nina_sullivan61? I notice mine starts smelling funky right at the 3 month mark so I just suck it up and pay the $50. Still cheaper than a doctor visit for my lungs.
