Appreciation post: the barista who called me out on my $7 latte habit

So I'm sitting at this coffee shop in Austin last Tuesday, pounding through my third latte of the morning, and the barista just casually drops that they go through 60 pounds of beans a week. I did the math real quick. That's like 1,200 drinks minimum. Then I figured my own habit. Three lattes at $6.50 each, five days a week, that's almost $100 a week on coffee alone. That's $400 a month for a place with spotty wifi and outlets that barely work half the time. But then the other side of me says, hey, this is my office. I get climate control, someone else cleans the bathroom, and I never have to fix the printer. So which is it? Am I wasting money or paying for a service I actually need? What do you guys think, is the coffee shop overhead worth it or am I getting played?

Bruh same, I'm dropping like $60 a week at my spot and honestly no regrets because my apartment has no chairs.

60 pounds of beans a week is wild, I didn't realize they moved that much product. That puts your latte habit in perspective though, those beans aren't cheap and neither is the rent they're paying. I'd say you're paying for a workspace with good coffee, not just wasting money.
