My buddy in Lisbon insisted I always ask for the Wi-Fi password before ordering anything
I followed his advice at a new spot in Portland last week, and it saved me from wasting $6 on a latte when their internet was completely down.

Smart move or just being cheap? That's a real pro tip right there. I do the same thing now after getting burned a few times. A coffee shop without working wifi is just a sad, overpriced room. It totally changes what you're actually paying for.

Seems a bit extra to me, @diana_foster.

I always thought checking the wifi was rude until my laptop died at a Seattle cafe with no outlets. Now I get it.
