Friend swore by buying single issues over trades, cost me $120 at Midtown Comics

He said I'd appreciate the ads and letter columns, but after 8 floppies I realized I just wanted the whole story in one sitting, so has anyone else broken a run into singles and regretted it for the reading experience?

The Omnibus editions finally killed singles for me. I read a whole run of Geoff Johns' Green Lantern in the big hardcovers, and it just flows so much better than waiting a month between chapters. The ads were cool for like two issues, then they just got annoying. Letter columns are nice for nostalgia but they don't make up for losing the narrative thread every 20 pages. My buddy still swears by floppies for the art, but i'd rather have a full story arc in my hands when im reading on the couch. Live and learn, i guess, but my wallet felt that one for sure.
