Hit 500 issues in my collection this weekend and I feel weird about it

Was just organizing my long boxes on Saturday and realized I've got exactly 500 comics now. Most of them are from the last 8 years, but I've got some old 90s X-Men issues my uncle gave me that started it all. Did anyone else feel weird when they hit a big round number like that? Like do I need to slow down or is this just how it goes for collectors?

Felt the exact same way when I hit 300 last year. Honestly I used to roll my eyes at people who talked about hitting big numbers, thought it was just flexing or whatever. But then I actually sat down and flipped through all my issues and realized how much time and memory was in those boxes. Like I've got this random run of New Mutants from a flea market that are beat to hell but I remember exactly which Sunday I found them. Kinda changed my whole view on collecting for me. I'd say just enjoy it, the number doesn't mean you have to stop or slow down.

Dude, yes, exactly this. I hit 350 last month and had the same exact moment where I just sat on the floor surrounded by long boxes and started flipping through everything. There's this beat up copy of Uncanny X-Men 201 that I found at a garage sale when I was like 12 and the cover is all bent up but I can still smell the old basement where I bought it. Numbers are weird because they sound like bragging but really it's just a way of measuring how many little stories you've collected along the way. The random crappy issues you paid a quarter for end up meaning way more than the key books sometimes. I still get that same thrill finding something I've never seen before even if my pull list is already ridiculous.
