Comparing Kirby Morgan helmets vs the new Chinese imports...
I finally gave in and tried one of those cheap Chinese band masks after swearing by my KM-37 for 8 years. Did a 50-foot hull inspection in San Pedro harbor last week with it. The exhaust valve stuck open after just two dives and I had to surface early. Meanwhile my old KM has been through hundreds of dives with nothing but a $15 rebuild kit. Anyone else had bad luck swapping out tried-and-true gear for the budget stuff?

Right there with you, my KM-37 has seen more harbor muck than I care to admit and still breathes like a dream. Tried a budget band mask last season for a quick job, had the reg freeflow on me at 30 feet and scared the daylights out of my tender. Guess some things you just don't cheap out on, like the price of a good cup of coffee... or a helmet that won't drown you.
