Rant: I used to think the 'flat earth' thing was just a joke, but my cousin got deep into it.

He kept sending me videos and links for a solid three months. I finally sat down with him in his garage in Toledo and went point by point through the supposed 'proofs'. The one about ships disappearing over the horizon got me, so I used a pair of binoculars from his workbench and watched a freighter on Lake Erie. You could see the hull drop away first, just like basic science says. It was that simple look that flipped a switch for me. Has anyone else had a family member fall for something like that and found a simple way to show them the truth?

That garage experiment is a really smart way to show him.

Did you see that actually work on someone though? My buddy Paul spent weeks trying to explain torque to his kid using toy cars and ramps. Nothing clicked until he built a little garage setup with a socket wrench and a stripped bolt. Kid figured out leverage in ten minutes flat.

Honestly, is it even worth the fight? Some people just love the weird stuff for the sake of it. Let him have his fun in the garage.
