A GC in Nashville made me redo my whole bid sheet after I lost a $9,000 job by $400
I was sitting in a parking lot on Nolensville Pike after losing a $9,000 fence job to a guy who bid $400 less, and the GC who passed me over actually called me to explain why. He said my numbers were fine but my bid sheet looked like a napkin, and he couldn't tell if I was covering materials or winging it. Now every bid I send has a line for tear out, dump fees, and a set crew size, and I've won 3 of the last 5 jobs I quoted. Does anyone else pad the line items or do you just throw one lump number at them?
