PSA: switched from paper punch lists to a shared note on my phone and the walkthrough went way faster
Last month on a kitchen remodel in Salem I was still printing punch lists on paper like always, and the final walkthrough with the homeowner took almost 2 hours because she kept flipping pages and asking where things were. Yesterday on a bathroom job I tried just keeping one shared note on my phone that she could see and check off as we walked room to room. We finished in about 35 minutes and she signed off on the spot with no callbacks so far. I get why some guys swear paper still works better since you can hand it to the client and they can hold it, but I'm not going back. Anyone else made this switch, and did the paper crowd ever come around or do you just hand them your phone now?
Would the paper crowd even care if you just showed them the phone and let them tap the checkboxes themselves? That part seals it for me, since the client gets to do something instead of just watching you scroll. Do that on every walkthrough and nobody asks for a printout again.
