Shoutout to the client who insisted on using a 3/4 inch supply line for every fixture in their new build

I had to explain that a 1/2 inch line is standard for most fixtures and the extra cost for material and labor added nearly $800 to the project for zero benefit. What's the most persistent misconception you've had to correct for a homeowner?

Honestly the bigger flow misconception is thinking more water pressure is always better. You can actually damage fixtures and create a lot of noise with excessive pressure, so sometimes that restriction is a good thing.

Totally. Reminds me of my old apartment. The shower had insane pressure, felt like getting sandblasted. It was so loud you couldn't hear someone yelling from the next room. Ended up blowing a small leak in the hose line behind the wall after a few months. Landlord had to install a pressure reducer.
