Had a client cry at my chair last week in Tucson and it changed how I handle consultations
I was doing a color correction on a lady who came in from a box dye disaster. She started tearing up halfway through and told me no other stylist had ever asked her what she actually wanted before starting. Now I spend a full 10 minutes on consultations even if it makes me run behind. Does anyone else do a longer consult for new clients or am I just slow?

My friend who cuts hair in Phoenix had a bride cry on her shoulder during a trial run because nobody ever asked her what she actually wanted her hair to look like for her wedding. She does 15 minute consults now and her books are always full.

That's literally all it takes though. People overthink the wedding stuff so bad they forget the bride is a real person with opinions. Your friend is smart for locking in those consults. Way better than guessing and hoping for the best. Bet she gets way less headache now too.
