Sodium hydroxide in relaxers ate through my gloves in 20 minutes
Mixing a fresh batch of relaxer at the salon on Saturday and my thick nitrile gloves just dissolved around my fingers. We had a new client with super coarse 4C hair and I was rushing the application, took almost 25 minutes before I felt the burn. Turns out the cheap gloves we ordered from that supply place in Jersey are not rated for high pH chemicals. I've been doing this for 9 years and never paid attention to the glove specs, just grabbed whatever was in the drawer. Anyone else got a brand of gloves that actually holds up against lye based relaxers for a full service?
