Had a perfect little day last Saturday and it felt like a scene from a fairytale

I was up at 6am picking blackberries from the patch behind my shed in Portland, got about 3 cups before the deer wandered by. Made a half batch of jam with old mason jars I found at a thrift store for 50 cents each. Spent the afternoon reading on a quilt under the oak tree with a cold glass of lemonade. Has anyone else had that one day where everything just clicked?

That sounds nice and all, but I gotta ask - how long did it take you to realize the blackberry patch was poison ivy adjacent? I had a similar fairytale day last summer picking wild grapes, only to discover my arms looked like I lost a fight with a cat for three weeks. Lemonade under an oak tree is a solid choice though, I usually just end up sitting on a stump with a beer and watching my neighbor's dog dig holes.

Rolled my eyes so hard at this lmao. I actually realized about halfway through the patch, like when I started getting that weird tingly feeling on my ankles and thought "oh no, not again." But I kept picking because I'm stubborn like that and the blackberries were just too good to leave. Ended up with a rash that looked like a map of some small country on my forearm for a solid two weeks. Also gotta say, oak trees are great and all but watch out for acorn bombs from the squirrels up there, I've taken one to the head mid sip of lemonade and it's not cute.
