My mom told me my dried flowers looked like trash

She said my lavender bundles were too tight and looked like broomsticks. I was using rubber bands which squished them all together. Now I use loose twine and space the stems out so they dry in a more natural fan shape. Has anyone else gotten harsh but helpful feedback from family on their decor?

oh man that's such a relatable thing lol. it's funny how family members will just tell you the raw truth like that but they're usually trying to help in their own blunt way. i've noticed this pattern in life where the harshest feedback from people who actually care about you ends up being the most useful. strangers will just say "looks nice" to be polite but your mom will tell you your dried flowers look like broomsticks because she wants you to do better. it's similar to how my dad used to give me awful haircuts as a kid but i learned to just let him do it because he was trying to save money for college lol. the trick is learning to filter out the delivery and focus on the actual advice underneath. sounds like you did exactly that with the twine and spacing thing which is smart.
