Painted vs. stripped wood trim - which is cozier?

I’m fixing up an 1890s house in Ohio. The old trim is painted over white, but underneath it’s oak. Had to pick: strip it all down or just repaint it fresh. I went with stripping because I wanted that warm wood look for cottage vibes. Took me 6 weekends with a heat gun and it’s still not done. Anyone else wrestle with this choice? What did you decide?

Paint always reads a bit cold to me no matter the color, but wow that's a lot of labor. Isn't cozy more about the warmth of the wood anyway?
