PSA: Your lavender bush is probably getting too much water
I saw my neighbor in Phoenix drenching her lavender every day, and the whole thing turned gray and sad. I told her lavender is from dry places and needs way less, maybe a good soak once every two weeks in the summer. She cut back and now it's full of bees and smells amazing. What's a plant you see people fuss over too much?
What about rosemary? I watched my mom kill three pots by treating it like a thirsty fern. It's another one that thrives on a bit of tough love and good drainage.
Rosemary actually needs less water than most people give it. The real killer is usually heavy soil that holds moisture. A gritty cactus mix with extra perlite works wonders.
