My friend's kid threw the controller during a heated Overcooked round
We were at my place last Saturday, three of us trying to get three stars on the ice level. My buddy's 8-year-old got so mad about dropping a tomato that he chucked the controller at the TV. It bounced off the screen and hit my dog's water bowl, which went everywhere. We had to pause for 20 minutes to clean up the mess and calm him down. We ended up switching to a calmer game, Moving Out, which went way better. Has anyone else had a game night go sideways with younger players, and what did you switch to?
Read an article about this exact thing. Said competitive co-op games can be too stressful for kids. Switching to something silly like Moving Out was the right call, it takes the pressure off.
Too stressful for kids" feels like a stretch, @jade3. I played competitive stuff with my cousins all the time and we just laughed when someone lost. Isn't the whole point to learn how to handle losing in a safe space? Moving Out is fun, but coddling them seems worse than a little game stress.
