My sourdough starter is older than my nephew now...

My starter's older than my last three cars, honestly.

Heard a city forester say they're planting more oaks now because of a new pest forecast

But what about the soil under all these new oaks? They need specific conditions to really thrive. If we just swap ash for oak in the same compacted tree pits, are we setting them up to fail anyway? Maybe the real shift needs to be in how we prep the ground, not just the species we pick.

Pro tip: someone told me my laptop screen was too bright for coffee shop work

Appreciate the thought, @xena_rivera63, but Portland's cloud cover actually makes screen glare worse for everyone else. A super bright phone in a dark coffee shop is like a flashlight to the eyes, which is why dimming it is key. It's less about missing the sun and more about not blinding your neighbors.

My dad told me to always preheat my mug with hot water before pouring coffee.

Totally stealing that mug trick, my coffee gets cold way too fast. My own ritual is grinding the beans right before brewing, which I started after reading about it online. The smell alone is worth the extra minute of effort. It feels like it makes the coffee taste brighter, or maybe I just like the sound of the grinder. Honestly, my main morning ritual is trying not to pour the coffee directly into my eyeball before I'm fully awake.
