My phone flashlight dims when the battery is low and I never noticed until last night

I was looking for my cat under the couch around midnight and my phone light was way weaker than normal. Checked the battery and it was at 15% so I guess it automatically saves power. Has anyone else caught their phone doing this or is it just a Samsung thing?

Caught my iPhone doing the same thing while recording a video of my dog eating grass once, it's wild.

My Pixel used to do it too, honestly I thought it was a bug until now.
