Turned off autocorrect on my phone after a typo cost me $120 at a diner in Nashville

I was at The Pancake Pantry in Nashville last March, trying to text my wife what we wanted to order. Autocorrect changed 'eggs benedict' to 'eggs Benedict Arnold' and then swapped 'no onions' to 'no union.' I hit send and the waitress walked off before I could correct it. My wife showed up and we got this weird breakfast I didn't order, plus a $120 bill for a table of four. I turned off autocorrect right there and now I just proofread my texts. Has anyone else had a gadget setting fail you in a specific moment like that?

Heard a guy on a podcast say autocorrect nearly cost him a business deal once.

Always read the whole thing out loud before you hit send.
