Stayed in Chiang Mai for 3 months before I realized I was working too hard.

I was grinding 10 hour days in coffee shops thinking that's just what nomad life is. Then a guy at my coworking space asked if I'd even seen the Doi Suthep temple yet after all that time... Has anyone else burned out by accident like that before?

Every single word of this hit way too close to home. I did almost the exact same thing my first time in Chiang Mai, grinding away at client work from 8am to 6pm and never once looking up. It's so easy to trick yourself into thinking you're being productive when really you're just hiding behind a laptop screen. That guy at your coworking space asking if you'd seen the temple is basically a wake up call from the universe. You spend all that time and money to be somewhere amazing, then accidentally turn it into just another office with better wifi. Good on you for noticing it, that's the first step to actually living like you're on an adventure instead of just working in a different zip code.

Yeah that "just another office with better wifi" part got me, I used to think remote work was always freedom.
