Had a week where every dinner I made turned into a disaster
Last Tuesday I tried to make a simple stir fry and ended up burning the garlic so bad the smoke alarm went off. Then Wednesday I decided to slow cook some chicken thighs and forgot to set the timer - came home to dry rubber. Thursday I said forget it and ordered pizza, but they got the order wrong and I got anchovies instead of pepperoni. Three nights in a row of total fails. Anyone else go through those streaks where the kitchen just hates you?

I actually kinda disagree with the whole "kitchen hates you" thing. Like, I get it's frustrating but calling it a curse or bad luck shifts the blame away from what you can actually control. The burnt garlic thing is just a matter of timing - garlic cooks fast and you gotta have everything else ready before you toss it in. The slow cooker thing though, that's on you. You know how long chicken takes, you just gotta set a phone alarm or something. I bet if you slowed down and prepped a little more intentional like, those mistakes wouldn't stack up the same way. Not trying to be harsh, just saying most kitchen disasters are fixable if you treat them as lessons instead of bad karma.

I see what you're saying about the garlic timing thing, but you got one small detail backwards. Garlic actually takes longer to burn if you add it later in the cooking process because it needs less direct heat to caramelize properly. You want to toss it in early with your oil and let it go slow, not throw it in at the end with everything else. Other than that your point about slowing down is pretty solid though.
