Shoutout to the dollar store silicone spatula I grabbed on a whim
I was making a batch of chili last night and my good rubber spatula just tore apart on me right in the middle of stirring... so I ran to the Family Dollar down the street and grabbed a 2-pack of their silicone ones for like $3. Figured they'd be junk but honestly the handle stayed cool and it didn't melt against the hot pot edge at all. Anybody else had decent luck with cheap kitchen tools when your expensive stuff fails?

Yeah I grabbed a cheap dollar store spatula too and it's still going strong after a year... sometimes the cheap stuff just works better for no reason. My expensive one fell apart way faster than I expected honestly. It's weird how the handle on those cheap ones doesn't get hot at all. Makes me wonder why I spent so much on the fancy brand in the first place.

Oh totally @grace419, I had the exact same experience! The cheap ones are somehow more heat resistant while the expensive ones get all melty and warped.
