That $12 mini glue pot left a puddle of melted plastic on my desk

Last month I bought this tiny glue pot meant for small desk crafts from a local dollar shop. It looked perfect for holding my hot glue sticks during projects. On its third use with a pen holder I was making, the whole thing just warped and melted from the heat. I lost the glue pot plus the pen holder I was halfway through building. Has anyone found a decent mini glue station that doesn't fall apart?

The whole thing warped and melted is exactly what happened to me. I tried those cheap glue pots from the dollar store and they just can't handle the heat. What worked for me was picking up a small silicone cupcake liner from the baking section. Seriously, they're heat resistant and cost like two bucks for a pack of twelve. No melting, no mess, and they sit flat on my desk. Maybe give that a try if you still want something simple.

I dunno, I feel like a silicone cupcake liner is gonna be too flimsy for hot glue. I've seen those things buckle under the weight of a decent-sized glue stick, especially if the glue pools up. Plus some of those baking liners have a weird texture that makes cleanup harder than just peeling a dried blob off a smooth surface. I'd rather deal with a slightly warped dollar store pot than fuss with a wobbly cupcake liner, but maybe that's just me.
