Honestly a facebook comment about rope knots totally changed how I make tug toys

Some lady in a golden retriever group pointed out that my knots were all slipping loose after a few tugs. She said to double up the figure eight knot and melt the ends instead of just tying it off. I tried it on my last braided rope toy and my dog couldn't pull it apart for three days instead of like 20 minutes. Anyone else get random game changing advice from strangers online?

Actually tried that half hitch trick after seeing it in a forum about paracord bracelets. Works like a CHARM. I use a double figure eight then add two half hitches on top, then melt the ends flat with a lighter so they don't fray. My pitbull mix finally stopped destroying her rope toys in under an hour. The real game changer was using a needle to thread the cord through the knot to tighten it super snug before melting. That extra step made everything bulletproof even for her heavy chomping sessions.

Did you try using a half hitch on top of the figure eight? That extra lock makes a world of difference for heavy chewers.
