My big mistake with a cheap paint sprayer cost me $150 and a weekend
Bought a $40 HVLP sprayer off Amazon to paint my kitchen cabinets. Ended up with drips everywhere and had to strip it all back down to bare wood after the paint started peeling in 2 months. The rental at Home Depot would have been $60 for the day and actually worked right. Has anyone else learned the hard way that cheap tools just end up costing more?

Oh man, you just described my first attempt at painting a bookshelf. Bought a $30 sprayer and spent an afternoon turning my garage into what looked like a crime scene with white paint everywhere. The drips were so bad I had to sand it all down and ended up just using a brush anyway, which took half the time and looked better. My buddy still brings it up when we talk about DIY disasters.

My buddy tried to paint his fence with a $20 sprayer from a garage sale and ended up painting half his lawn and his neighbor's cat before the thing just died mid-stream lol. The cleanup took him like three hours with mineral spirits and he still found dried paint flecks in his hair for a week. Sometimes you really do gotta pay for quality or just stick with a roller and call it a day.
