Showerthought: Running a 12-inch cutterhead on the old Sacramento channel job showed me the clear winner

We had a 10-inch suction dredge and a 12-inch cutterhead model side by side for six months. The cutterhead moved 30% more material per day, hands down, because it could handle the dense clay without constant clogging. Anyone else had to pick between suction and cutterhead for a tight deadline?

Our suction rig ate that clay for breakfast.

Heard a friend at a field construction site say their setup turned that clay into butter, but yours ate it for breakfast - that's a whole other level of tough. That stuff is always a nightmare for vacuum systems, especially if it's that sticky blue stuff that clogs everything. Did the rig's filters hold up well after, or did they need a good washout?

Feel for you, that clay is brutal on any setup.
