PSA: My old method for fishing wire through finished walls was a huge headache
For years I'd just use a standard fish tape and a lot of swearing, but last month on a Reno job I tried a fiberglass push rod with a lighted tip and it cut the time for a tricky run from about 45 minutes down to maybe 10. What's your go-to method for fishing in finished spaces now?

But honestly, all that fancy gear just feels like overkill to me.

Tried those magnetic fishing rods last year and they changed everything. The magnet just grabs the wire and pulls it right through. Way less cussing at the wall for sure.

dylanbarnes I get where you're coming from but I really gotta disagree here. Those magnetic rods aren't fancy gear they're a simple tool that just works different. Before I got one I spent HOURS trying to push and wiggle stiff wires through walls and it was always a mess. The magnet grabs the wire instantly and guides it right where you need it. No guessing, no fishing blind, just done in like two minutes instead of twenty. It's not about having the latest gadget it's about not wanting to swear at your own wall every time you run a cable.
